An End to War (2008)

By Steve Fly (Amsterdam, 2008)

Squeeze the press, address the address system.

In 2008 you would think that and more war would have become obsolete, with the new emerging ecological crises overshadowing any advantage that comes from a war. What use is a country, an industry and a people liberated or conquered on a planet that cannot sustain them?

Its a very brave and rather foolish individual who thinks that they can stop a war in 2008. But, what else is there to be done? We already have all the technology and resources for an earthly paradise, all the programs the maps, the transport the seeds, but it just seems that folks simply can't get it together and share the bounty of earths natural resources, without a so called free-market getting in the way by ensuring that those with the most credit, have the most power. In 2008 money talks and bullshit walks. And the wars go on and on.

Of course, wars have many contributing factors, and its impossible for one individual to process these factors, that can easily encompass entire histories of Nations and cultures, but in light of the fact that there is not to my knowledge a think-tank or organization dedicated to the study of the prevention of wars, what else is an individual to do?

In my 31 years on earth i have seen many wars unfold, the Falklands War, Gulf War 1 and Gulf war 2, plus the invasion of Serbia. Taken from the perspective of somebody who's nation by association of birth, and parentage is at war in some sense. I have also seen and heard of bits of War in other parts of the world, mostly from television. But, i have yet to see or hear anything serious about stopping a war. In those blunt terms. Stopping is not winning!

To repeat, when a nation achieves any kind of military objective or so called win that involves violence death and destruction they have not stopped war in any way. History goes to the victors and the war continues. This has been my experience from witnessing the more recent wars that Britain has been involved with and now that we are in Afghanistan and Iraq in 2008 backing up America as America's strongest ally in the new so called war on terror, i can see a pattern emerging, and the ripples go back deep into history, wars, power, greed, religious dogma, deception, double crossing, the history of war and the study of war kicks up some of the worst things Humans have ever done, and are doing to one another, and it requires a special humility and neutrality to be able to stay sane when writing or speaking about war and the causes of wars in an environment inhabited by brainwashed patriots and faith-based crusaders for the one and true single GOD!

Economics seem like a cause for war, as economics involve money and money like power corrupts, most of the time. But economics often gets side-lined as a strong cause for wars in the major news media, by bigger stories like megalomaniac individuals who want to kill everybody, a crazy religious cult or an isolated act of terrorism. That humans go to war over money, business and sales does not get much mention in the newspress, although most news seems to be about nothing else but money, business, sales and wars. Except they don't attribute these news items to one another and stop to think that the business sales and money marketing might be what's also a major factor driving the wars.

The new enemy threat that wants to take away our freedoms and cause us suffering and violent harm because they are sadistic evil sons of bitches might, underneath this more newsworthy surface, have an economic drive, they might be fighting as financial terrorists, they might be fighting a business war, a financial war for economic gains, or defense of their Nations economy. Which means to me that although theses bastards might wish to screw you financially and economically they do not really wish to physically harm you, or cut off your head, unless paid satisfactorily by one of the secret war hungry intelligence agencies or news media banking operations: CIA, MI5, Mossad, ICI etc.

Prolonged fear of and service to war seems to be what Nations train their citizens in. Nuclear and psychological warfare combined and complementing one another, fear of a bomb that's out of your control and that may kill off yourself, and everybody else, is a psychological warfare device unleashed upon the whole world, and once again perpetuated by Great Britain, America, Israel, Saudi Arabia (America being the only nation to use an Nuclear device in a war) Many people still believe that the blowing away Nagasaki and Hiroshima helped stop a war! These are probably the same people who believe in capital punishment. They don't seem aware of the laws of war, that violence breeds more violence in a downward spiral of escalating chaos. There can be no holy wars. You are your own enemy. Violence remains psychically self-defeating.

Peace, Fly.
